EPANDMEDIA HELPS KNICKERBOCKER/SKD IN MAJOR CAMPAIGN TO STOP NEW YORK STATE HEALTHCARE 2007 BUDGET CUTS
A series of new TV and Radio ads commissioned
by 1199SEIU characterizes New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer's
efforts to reform healthcare as the right idea but the wrong prospective
execution cutting $1 billion from hospitals and nursing homes
rather than finding the resources from the excessive profits of
HMOs and insurance companies
The campaign, created by KnickerbockerSKD's Josh Isay, features
several TV ads directed by Isay and Matt Herath (" Real Reform,"
" In One Day" and " Margaret" and " Anna" ), and a TV ad directed by
Isay with Creative Direction by EpandMedia's Len Epand, " Nurses."
Epand also directed a series of radio ads written by Josh Isay,
" Nurse," and " Nursing Home." Variations of the latter were customized
for play in different areas of the state. Additionally, Epand created
a radio version of the " Margaret" and " Anna" TV ads in which these
97 and 94-year-old nursing home residents declaim the potential
tragic consequences of the cuts Governor Spitzer is attempting to
put through. Epand also worked with KnickerbockerSKD's Micah Lasher
to create " Voice," a radio ad featuring Reverend Al Sharpton talking
with a nurse. Sharpton amplifies the importance of not taking resources
from the very people who help patients.
